SmartBro vs Globe Broadband vs PLDT WeRoam vs Globe Visibility

// July 7th, 2007

While doing my usual online banking chores, I found something flashy on BPI Expressonline’s homepage. It’s this promotion of BPI Expressonline, BPI’s online banking service and Globe Broadband Internet.

3 Months Free Broadband Internet
Save almost P3000 on a 12-month subscription by getting 3 months Globe Broadband and Landline Service for FREE. Enjoy up to 384 kbps broadband connection with Globe Broadband Budget Bundles for only P995 per month.

Php999 for SmartBro and Php995 for Globe Broadband - where’s this going?

I just gave in to SmartBro’s lure a few days ago and got its Php999 (384 kbps) Internet connection service. So far, aside from occasional disconnections, which should be expected if you’re getting SmartBro, I can’t complain much because I don’t use it too often since it’s just my backup connection if ever ComClark dies on me during crunch time.

I’m still waiting for Globe Visibility since I’ve read from so many users/bloggers that it’s better than PLDT WeRoam. How about you? Which do you prefer? SmartBro or Globe Broadband? PLDT WeRoam or Globe Visibility?

hmmm, goodluck on the after sales service of smartbro good sir.if you’ll permit me, I’d just like to share my rant against smart’s smartbro:

simply amazing isn’t it? how they take their clients for granted.. I just recently had my subscription cut (actually it was just last night). reason why? simply coz they suck. I reported a slow and non-existent connection aug 3 (average speed was less than a 100kbps). guess what the excuse was? naturally the “base-station-upgrade/base-station-techprob” excuse. so i continually called their hotline (in every occasion losing at least 15mins of my precious life because no one was answering) to report and do followups. and then aug 9, I talked to “jack” and said that I was scheduled for a field visit on aug 11 to check my canopy settings because the problem maybe there. WHAT?? so why then were they saying before that the problem was in their base-station. They were practically lying to me. unfortunately for the agent, i wasn’t stupid to fall for their crap and received the hell out of me. Guess what, Aug 11 passed without a shadow of their contractors in my place. Had it cut Saturday night after waiting the whole day for a no-show contractor. I told the rep at their wireless center don’t they dare demand from me the remaining months off my contract (still just 6months with smartbro so i’m still within the lock-in period). If they want to sue me, feel free, they’ll be facing a losing battle. Whoever is planning to go SMARTBROKEN, don’t! ridiculous service!

Whoever is planning to apply for a SMARTBROKEN connection, suskupo wag na maawa ka sa sarili mo

  2. SMARTASSBRO Says:

I am so sorry, it should be “good madame”

  3. globebroadband suck Says:

  4. brod band Says:

  5. ssssss Says:

What the F*ck is happening behind the wires of smartbro? Imagine this, i got extremely poor connection for weeks until such time it totally went out. Called up tech sup-POOR-t and heard the same excuses as mentioned above. Told me after 24 hours it’ll be fixed. Days-weeks-months (getting worse) already pass and still no tech guy appeared on my door…. so i switched to bayantel dsl just to keep the business going. Literally i haven’t use smartbro for 2 months. When i decided to transfer the smartbro account to my other office they told me i had to settle the 2 months due for me (even is it’s practically dead) before they will transfer the fucking antenna. However, they told me they will deduct the un-used account in the upcoming billings - so i did just to let it happen. After 2 months of struggling poor connection, i decided to cut and end it. Poor me i had to pay the billing again before they cut it. f^ck that!

  6. SmartBroke Says:

hahaha.. ako naman p d2 sa valenzuela.. nagkaprob din sa ssbro.. sa tech support.. pdi nga dumadating pero..ako na lng humanap ng solusyyon medyo ok nman sa loose plugs lng.. and after that goin smooth nman its been a year now….

  7. marcuspoleern Says:

ive been a smartbro subscriber for 11 months now. by next month (december), my contract with smartbro will end AND I WILL NOT DARE TO RENEW IT AGAIN!!! smartbro made my downloads complicated and miserable (due to every 20–30minutes of disconnections TO BE EXACT!!!!!!!)… right now, im planning to have a PLDT or DIGITEL. PLDT offers free installation, eith a plan of 999/month (1 mbps) for a DSL and Landline telephone. DIGITEL @ 770/month with 500 installation fee (384kbps). ALL I CAN SAY IS, NEVER SUBSCRIBE FOR A WIRELESS INTERNET PROVIDER SINCE THEY ARE PRONE TO FREQUENT DISCONNECTIONS. RATHER SUBSCRIBE WITH A CABLE OR LINE (BASTA MERONG WIRE). HEHEHEHE

  8. Smart WeRoam Hoax Says:

Began subsription with Smart WeRoam last Sept 2007. First few weeks was at it best.

Now it literary does not work. It will
connect and after 1-2 minutes no more
    browsing even connected.

Service is the worst. 100x worst than
Globe and 10x worst than eastern telecom.

Again PLDT is dreaming of something that
    they cannot deliver.

    Never ever get PLDT WEROAM

  9. WeRoam User Says:

Since Oct. 5, 2007 I have been having problems with my WeRoam connection. It would connect for a minute or two but suddenly gets disconnected. I never had a stable connection lasting for more than 3 minutes. I can’t retrieve e-mails, can’t download anything and most of the times I can’t even browse the net.

I reported my problem to their hotline since day 1, followed it up everyday but still no development. They sent a PLDT and Smart technician to my place but they still can’t track and identify the problem.

My WeRaom is practically useless right now, just an added weight for my laptop.

I can’t believe it’s taking them so long to repair this problem. Been more than two months now.

I hope someone from PLDT gets to read this!

  10. nipszy Says:

WOW! after reading all these, i feel soooo lucky! i keep on complaining about the slow connection smartbro is giving me. (211 kbps at its fastest! and i only get that speed at around 4am) but at least i seldom get disconnected. and if i do, the SmartBro QuickFix can actually fix the problem. i guess i just have to be contented with this since everything else sucks.

  11. Somebody Says:

Speaking of SmartBro techies, the idiots have you go walk through “troubleshooting steps” which they probably get from a manual, coz they don’t seem to know the reasons for the instructions they’re giving… “restart your PC”, “unplug the cable”, “plug in the cable again”… I got more help using my dial-up connection and looking for info on the Internet. I was able to narrow down the problem to their base station… but the fools said that they need to send in their SmartBro team to my place to troubleshoot the problem. So their team came. Checked my PC, and said they had three other calls from my area, which they were going to check out because the problem was either my antenna or the base station. I told them it was the base station, but they wouldn’t believe me - idiots. Btw, I finished with a Diploma in I.T. … so I knew what I was talking about and I wasn’t making an assumption but a conclusion… and I got charged a “service fee” for their non-service. Bloody Smart crooks, eh?

  12. just_inquring Says:

mga dudes, how about the service/internet connection of BayanTel and PLDT Broadbands? kasi kakabili ko lang ng laptop, gusto ko sana magpakabit ng Broadband.. what do you recommend for me? Or I will just stick to my dial-up connection?

  13. wirelss = useless Says:

zpidee is kinda fist.. ang experience ko jan sa mga yan eh..basta wireless eh useless talaga. tama si marcuspoleem sa sinabi nya.

  14. wifi_boy Says:

mga guys…..which is best wifi connection?Globe visibility o PLDT weroam?

  15. Kuya_Yaku Says:

yeah! wireless networking is having alot of problems due to the huge interference it is facing compared to wired networking. If you’re really planning to apply for wireless internet service, “YOU MUST EXPECT THE WORST”! and always take note of this things before signing any contracts from your ISP 1]fast service response for repair, 2]rebates program. ^^ BTW my internet connection is fast and quite reliable from Bayantel and take note, it is WIRED INTENRET. hehe!!!
