As I rushed right through the first day I had an online meeting with a new client, racing thoughts overwhelmed me. I guess it’s from the lack of sleep and the kick of caffeine. My mom’s still asleep when I woke my youngest brother to drive me to the home office. Drive me. To the home office. You read it right. And it’s a long story, which I again don’t want to elaborate on unless someone asks me to.
Back to my racing thoughts, twas quarter to five when I looked at my n73. It’s sickeningly early but I didn’t want to miss this instant messenger meeting again. Although it’s still dark, I noticed an elderly couple jogging, which my unsurprisingly pessimistic brain has processed into something like - “Here’s a couple stretching whatever they have left.” And I saw a few dogs and a cat who at first looked like they’re having the time of their animal life but all of a sudden scurried away from the streets sensing that they can be ran over any time by my brother who already has a record of putting one drunk guy into the hospital for a femur replacement!
We arrived at the office and I was five minutes late! And my younger brother who I thought was sleeping in my office won’t open the door no matter how loud I bang on it. Reluctantly, I called my Aunt on her mobile phone to let me in. She was also surprised that my younger brother was not awoken by the noise.
It turned out my brother wasn’t at home. He left for the store almost an hour before we got there. My ever sleuth of a youngest brother, the driver, suspected that something’s wrong and followed our brother to confirm his misgiving. He checked my younger brother’s mobile phone and saw two messages that validated his intuition. My brother’s transacting with someone about the change of plan on selling his pet, he wants it dead.
