The labor market is swamped with call center jobs these days. They started to bloom in the service industry in the late 1990s and, today, they are the most advertised and most predominant job in the labor industry.
The job usually is attractive to young and energetic fresh college graduates or the young professionals shifting to a new career path because of the attractive compensation packages that the recruiting agencies offer to the would-be call center agents. The industry is even more accommodating to both the men and women workers, which makes it even a more lucrative means of livelihood.
Lady agents are most prone to the dangers of the night especially in the big cities, where most call center agencies are located. They are the most prone to hold ups, snatching, assault by unknown hoodlums.
If you are a lady working for a call center there are a few things that you should remember when working late and walking late for the job.
1. Walk or commute to work with a co worker or a friend going in the same area where you work.
This would shoo away the hold upper or snatcher from attacking should they see you with someone. These criminals usually attack frail and alone individuals the most and less when accompanied by somebody or if you are in a group
2. Keep your things in your bag and keep the bag close to your body.
This would lessen the chances of snatching your things by snatchers since everything is close to your body and not dangling around, which makes them difficult to take from you.
3. Join the group when getting back home.
It is safest that you have company even when going home at early mornings from work. This would make you feel safer that you are with somebody at the dark hours of the morning when getting home.
We’ve been talking about getting to work safe and to home safe but there are other things that a lady call center agent should remember as well.
1. Always eat right and get all the sleep you need.
Working at graveyard shifts would mean reversing the time of sleeping and waking up or staying up. If you have to work nights, you have to sleep at daytime to get all the rest that you need. Graveyard shifts are work times and to work you need a considerable amount of rest to function well. To functional well, you also need to be nourished with all the nutrients your body needs. Drink the necessary amount of liquids for a healthy body and the nutritious food needed to keep your mind alert and the body strong.
2. Have time for yourself.
During your breaks or days off, it would be good to relax the body. Perhaps, if you have time for a good massage, a relaxing work out or exercise, it would be good to have one. These activities allow your senses to relax and the body attuned.
3. Enjoy activities you like on your days off.
If you are a fan of reading, writing, watching television, which perhaps you cannot do when you have work, maybe you could do these activities on your days off. This will help you reconnect with yourself and the current events around you. You may also go out or chat with your family members and try to get in touch with your home life.
How about you? How do you make sure you’re safe during your nocturnal shifts?

ms. alfa mercado,
thank you for this very nice article of yours. I wish you could post another equally useful advice on call center agents’ safety and health.
Rest assured, I will continue visiting this site of yours as this is the only article I found talking about the daily haggles of a call center agent’s life, myself included.
