I gave up on Digitel Mango (hope to get my money back from them by the end of Sept.) and never even gave SmartBro a chance after reading all those complaints. Now I’m crossing my finger for Comclark Surestream Broadband Cable Internet, which boasts of itself as the first and only cable internet service in Pampanga.
At first I thought of availing its promo of Php788 for an Unlimited 384kbps. But I hate its 2-year lock-in period so I opted for the Exceed 1350 residential plan with 64kbps to 512kbps speed. The modem will installed tomorrow so I’m now really crossing my fingers for Comclark Surestream!
If you’re interested, here’s Comclark Internet Services Pricelist.
And hey, as usual, anyone is welcome to rant and rave about their Comclark experiences here.

[...] I just gave in to SmartBro’s lure a few days ago and got its Php999 (384 kbps) Internet connection service. So far, aside from occasional disconnections, which should be expected if you’re getting SmartBro, I can’t complain much because I don’t use it too often since it’s just my backup connection if ever ComClark dies on me during crunch time. comclark is ok in terms of internet service. what gets my goat is the fact that you can’t really customize their service much. like when you need to network another computer to share the internet connection, you have to use a router, instead of just the usual switch and have them configure it for you for a fee. as such, i can’t use my laptop online. it’s just me and this jurassic PC all the time.
and oh… one more thing – just try to steer clear from their customer service guys stationed at SM. No, they won’t karate chop your head. Rather, It’s the “Hello, earth to mars” experience that would surely give you the creeps.

vsandiq,
It’s a good thing I’m good at pestering them when I need my connection fixed.
Thanks for sharing your Comclark experience.

I also subscribed to the 512kbps service, and guess what? I get 610 kbps downstream. That’s right, 610KBPS, more than the advertised speed.
The speed of their connection is really superb, they don’t oversubscribe their lines (unlike smart broken) and if you don’t go to their customer support to ask questions (tulad ko dahil alam ko magconfigure ng router without paying a fee, hehe), you won’t have any headaches.
The only complaint that I have so far is relatively minor, namely, mataas ang latency ko if I play PLDTPlay (umaabot ng 250ms, whereas a 64ms RTT is already a source of a huge amount of lag in gaming), and I understand that it’s because there are many hops going to the PLDT server, so hindi na nila masiyado kontrolado yun. If they can resolve even that, I’m sure many internet cafes will switch to comclark.

uhm. my smartbro lock in period is over. and i am thinking of switching to surestream. i just dont have the proofs that i want that surestream is better. Please help me too.. Is surestream not capable of PC to PC connection or P2P? Does surestream needs a router to connect just 2 PC? Can’t i just use P2P? help please

one more thing disturbing about surestrem comclark is their minimum speed. its 32kbps WTF. and 2 years lock in period. if comclark is something just like smartbroken or globe (gagu loko olol bobo engot). then what the hell.. please give a real and promising provider.

ahem… i am a subscriber of comclark’s surestream, well you can connect it to a P2P connection only by installing two lan cards to your PC and use a UTP cable to connect it through another PC, which is you will be sharing the other lancard so it will be recognize by the other PC to get a connection from it.. (So kahit hindi ka gumamit nang router basta alam mo lang i configure, ayos na!) kailangan lang eh medyo tricky ka.. well if you really want to see the performance of surestream, try it for yourself.

hahaha.. actually naka smartbro ako and naka P2P ako sa smartbro. pero sabi lang nila kasi hindi pwede sa comclark. pero since you have tried it and it works. maybe it will also work for me, assuming configured correctly. Pero one more question I wanna ask is that if they have a reliable connection and high speed rate. i dont wanna risk 2 years contract with a Fu*king….
