Prep Tips Before Going to the Dentist

// August 30th, 2006

Got my dental prophylaxis today. Each visit there are some common sense preparation must-do’s that I often forget. Maybe blogging about them will help me remember as I need to see my dentist again after a few weeks. Here’s what will help your visit to your dentist for a routine cleaning become a less stressful one:

1. Brush your teeth at least twice. (Nope. I didn’t forget about this but thought YOU might need to be reminded) Don’t get carried away (brushing your teeth too hard that might cause your gums to bleed) though as it might cause more damage than help your dentist breathe well while examining your not-so pearly whites.

2. Bring a reliable lip balm because your lippies will be as dry as Sahara after the dentist’s job. Put some lip balm to your pouter a few minutes before your appointment. Don’t put some right before the “cleaning proper” as it might cause your dentist’s hand to slip with that nasty tooth drill.

3. Bring a squeeze ball. This is to help you relax during the drilling session if ever there’s a tooth that becomes too sensitive. You know what I feel, er, mean.

4. Don’t forget your wallet because some still do.
