The Isulong SEOPH contest squeezes more and more of the creative juices of the Filipinos each day. Now this makes me re-think about content as the real king and link building as the queen (author’s POV). Definitely, there’s too many ways to skin the cat, or to win the Isulong SEOPH contest for that matter.
Here are the commendable viral marketing tactics employed by the Isulong SEOPH participants:
1. Inmyear.com’s Isulong SEOPH Podcast
Why is podcasting an effective viral marketing technique? The power of the word of the mouth is literally utilized. Podcasting is the creation and delivery of audio content through an RSS feed usually in a donwloadable form such as mp3. Podcasting trivia: Would you believe that the first Filipino podcaster is a woman?
2. isulong-seoph.net’s SEO Comics for the Isulong SEOPH contest
Why is a comic strip an effective viral marketing technique? A picture paints a thousand words, especially if it targets a certain audience. Period.
3. isulongseoph.ph’s imitation of Mike Enriquez’s voice
A dose of laughter is what a tight contest such as Isulong SEOPH needs. Audible fun is a good leverage since anything that provokes reaction can be recalled easily, thus a potent viral marketing move.
All for the Isulong SEOPH movement.

[…] Creating this comic gave people something to talk about. It created buzz. I suddenly stumbled into something that worked! It was quite effective that my website entry was able to get free links from other bloggers - even other contestants. The comic was even mentioned in the popular seroundtable website. What’s the lesson here? Seth Godin’s Purple Cow principle worked. I had made something remarkable and it got noticed. Thanks to that comic strip, people now remember me, personally. […]
