This is the continuation of my extensive post regarding the telecommuting scene in the Philippines.
One promising career that one with a good computer use background can pursue is Internet marketing. Many Americans have been considered as gurus of this not so saturated field. In the Philippines, popular Internet marketers don’t abound, at least with those uninitiated with Internet marketing. I only know two who seem to be doing quite well, Mr. Marc Hil Macalua and my boss.
Internet marketing involves but is not limited to creating products that can be easily sold online, i.e., e-books, software, etc., and promoting them online.
Other jobs, often for freelancers or part-time gigs, that can be done easily at home include:
Medical Transcription and Other Transcription Jobs
First, you can learn from medical transcription schools. Then, after becoming efficient, you can do this at home. E-lance and RentaCoder and other freelancing sites may give you your first few clients.
I do some transcribing as a career side-dish. My fingers can’t get enough the keyboard.
Web Content Writing
If you have the gift of gab, a few lessons and you can easily earn from this stint. This is my bread and butter. If you would like to learn more about it, my YM is alubebe_soup.
Problogging
This is another online gig that can make one earn quite a decent income. This is in line with web content writing and Internet marketing. However, it takes more than good writing and a good online presence must be developed before one can wear the laurels of a successful problogger or professional blogger. Shai Coggins (the first Pinay problogger) and Abraham Olandres are two of the most well-known Filipino probloggers I regularly bloghop on. Their foreign counterpart is Darren Rowse.
Travel Booking
If you were a corporate mainstay for a decent number of years it won’t hurt to take advantage of the clientele you were able to tap. One work at home Pinay’s feat on this field is how she got out of the rat race and made the most of her rapport with her previous market. Here’s her work at home success story.
Other work at home gigs that might pique your interest are brochure making, creating wedding planner guides, and resume writing. Whatever interests you can be turned into a viable source of income that you can do at home. But it’s not something that you can do in a wink of an eye. It necessitates research to be able to come up with an informed decision on whether you can pull it off at home or not.
