Got Myself a Laptop with Sleek Design
A few days after writing a post about my need for a laptop, and thinking about it a lot of times (about four times), and checking which laptops rock for a non-graphics-designer like me, I’d gladly let the sales clerk from Accent Micro swipe my BPI credit card and grabbed a Black MacBook Pro with Leopard!
Green with envy yet?

Don’t worry, I’m not that suicidal yet. I got myself one lovely Compaq Presario B1200 Notebook PC.
I’ve been eyeing on the available laptops in SM Clark and SM San Fernando for quite some time and I fell in love with none of ‘em except this one. It’s definitely love at first sight! Do you want to know how great a consumer I am? If I see one product for the first time and I can’t stop staring at it, I won’t leave the shop without it!
I was looking for any nice Compaq Presario that weighs not more than 2kg, with at least 80GB of memory and Intel Core Duo. And what have I found? A pretty thing with the following specs:
-
Processor: Core 2 Duo
-
Processor speed: 2GHz
-
Centrino: Yes
-
Amt of RAM: 1GB
-
Hard drive: 160 GB
-
Optical drive: DVD Super Multi drive
-
Graphics hardware: Intel GMA X3100
-
Diagonal screen size: 12.1 inch
-
Weight w/battery: 1.79 kg
-
Wireless LAN: 802.11a, 802.11b, 802.11g, 802.11n
-
Webcam: Yes
-
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium
It’s also with a freebie - a Motorola W218 phone and a 1GB Apacer Flash Drive. I’ve just sent an email of the serial number and other required docs to Yeaps - the marketing company handling this Motorola and Hewlett Packard promo.
I just had its OS downgraded today to Windows XP and Microsoft Office installed. Now I’m off to selling my other desktop PC and do some research on which ISP is lesser evil - Globe Visibility or PLDT Weroam? This will definitely be one migraine-inducing job.

@Gabs and Marvin
It’s Php69,950, approx. $1,700.
Is it too expensive for its specs?

@KrazyKorean
I’m still not so sure because I haven’t charged it fully yet, got no time to tinker. But I think its battery’s not lasting more than an hour.

Hmm. not really I think its only Vista that made it cost that much. Too bad you can’t get rid of it to take off some costs. Not really bad since you have a cellfone and a usb drive as a giveaway. My question though is that why is the battery not lasting for more than hour? Kind of odd for a Compaq Notebook.

Congrats on the new gadget.
And why not the Macbook Black (not necessarily Pro)? Heh.
Have fun with your new toy!

Hi Shai,
Why not the Macbook Pro? I’m not ready to learn how to use the Mac OSX. Hehe..

Hi Alfa,
I think new laptops like yours are not compatible with WeRoam—I think PLDT made their simcard gadget big to fit the old laptops but not the new ones with smaller sizes. By the way, hope to exchange links with you—
