Skype is Down
According to my VA sis-in-law, Skype, the VOIP service she uses for her telemarketing projects, has been causing her headaches for the past two days.
Thinking that it was SmartBro’s causing this, SmartBro’s customer service almost got a mouthful from me. But it’s a good thing that I used my Googling power first before resorting to drastic measures because I’ve learned that it’s actually Skype’s fault.
What’s better than that news?
The Skype people are doing their jobs now to fix the problems with their service.
As Europe has woken up to a new day and Asia is entering the evening hours, here’s the latest on the sign-on problem.
We’re on the road to recovery. Skype is stabilizing, but this process may continue throughout the day.
An encouraging number of users can now use Skype once again. We know we’re not out of the woods yet, but we are in better shape now than we were yesterday.
Dear Skype troubleshooting team, please hurry up. I don’t want my sis-in-law facing so much trouble with her new job.
How’s Skype treating you?

Hi Alfa,
If you dont mind an unsolicited advise, tell your sis-in-law to sign up for a VoIP service. It’s difficult to rely on Skype lalo na if you want to give incoming outgoing calls service. There are also some clients who would prefer to hire someone with a VoIP line that is not SkypeOut.

@Maying,
Thanks for the thoughtful advice. She’s really planning to get a non-Skype VoIP service any time soon. Any VoIP service suggestion?

Hi Alfa,
I use Skype and Vonage. But I will be getting another service to replace the vonage because my relatives in the US who have been kind enough to get this for me will have to cut-off the service soon. I saw a VoIP service being offered and if I’ve got it working already I’ll let you know.
There’s one alternative also. You can sign up for any web-based VoIP subscription and use a softphone for that.
