Re-Introducing: Work at Home Philippines Hub Search Engine
In 2006, I created a customized search engine I called “Work at Home Philippines Hub.” It’s a compilation of the websites I frequent in looking home based job leads, work/life balance tips, and other telecommuting-related gems.
After a few months I got rid of it because of some coding problems. Now I’ve put it back due to popular public demand. Ok, actually I just figured it’s going to be more helpful now that I’m able to accumulate more useful sites for those who are looking for job openings and some tips.
Now to improve its searchaliciousness, here are some tips:
1. Use quotation marks
You may or may not find what you’re looking for if you’re using quotation marks. But start with putting quotation marks on terms you’re looking for.
2. Dig deeper
I mean don’t dwell on the first page of the search engine results. This is because some of the results on the first page are old info. This will be more helpful if you’re looking for new job openings. An example is when I searched for “Craigslist job”, I discovered that the results on the second page have more recent job openings info. The first page has older ones. This maybe because the older posts get indexed better than newer ones.
3. Use and Check out dates
If you are looking for job posts, it’s important to always check the dates to know if the job is worth your time re-composing that resume’ and sending a cover letter. Better yet, try searching using the current month and year to get more updated job leads, say, “virtual assistant July 2007″ and “content writer 2007″.
4. Use the web search feature
If you can’t still find the info you’re looking for, tick “web search” and you might just find what you’re looking for.
Oh, where can the customized search engine be found? The box on the sidebar entitled “Home Based Job Search”.
