Everyone has his or her dream profession or business. Filipinos are fond of daydreaming working for big companies like SGV, San Miguel Corporation, Call Centers, er… Really? But I know there are also many of us who get starry-eyed when someone asks them what business they’d want to get into.

I’m now having the time of my life doing my dream job. No one dictates what time I should start working and no one stops me from playing with my niece (the toddler wearing a Tina Turner wig) whenever I want to.

And, if everything falls into place and I keep myself motivated, my dream business will be almost within my reach. While working at home accomplishing virtual assistant tasks, I wish to have another business that won’t require me to be so hands-on for it to succeed and also some kind of venture that’s so different from what I’m doing right now to satiate my obsession for variety.

1. Legitimate

Unless you really know the source of these jobs, most probably if you use the search engine and land on sites advertising jobs this way – “Legitimate work at home job!” or using any derivatives of the adjective legitimate such as legit or some synonyms like “real”, it’s a scam. Problogger – Darren Rowse’s tips on how to earn a living or just some extra money from your blog. Learn how to earn six figures from blogging straight from the six figure earner himself.

Work from Home Momma – Laura Spencer’s blog is ideal for moms and even those are not moms yet who are looking to read some insightful information on how to go about working from home while maintaining work/life balance.

I still get a lot of hits for this question:

What are you oftentimes criticized for? How did you react to them?

So to finally provide some more relevant information for those who’d like to know how this question should be answered, here’s my own answer to that question.

I’m often criticized for being too judgemental. This habit runs in our family and it often works to our benefit that’s why I don’t mind being called, being labeled too judgemental. It makes me easily identify a person not worthy of my trust, thus saving me from a lot of problems in the long run. It also makes me successful in knowing who best to deal with my freelance projects and other transactions. Now if I get told that I’m just being too judgemental – I’m proud of it because as far as I know, being innately judgemental works for me and as far as I know, I haven’t really hurt someone with this trait of mine.

Now how do you answer that question to ensure that you get that short-listed? I think you just have emphasize any bad trait of yours that benefits you without being too detrimental to anyone. Something that will benefit your employer – say being too much of a perfectionist, being OC when it comes to organizing things, stuff like those.

I decided to make some regular features on this blog. One is the Home Based Job Finds Mondays wherein I’ll post some job leads every Monday. These jobs are mostly those jobs that can be done at home, of course.

Another regular feature is the Tell Me What Tuesday, which is more like JustMakeMoneyOnline’s Open Mic Monday. This post will be more about the thoughts of this blog’s readers. It’s going to be your thoughts that will make this regular blog feature work.

I was asked today by a new acquaintance how clients find me and vice versa. I enumerated lots of methods and it’s just now that I noticed that there are so many ways to find clients. Here are those methods that work for me:

- Join niche forums

One of my clients who have been supplying me with projects for the longest time came from a forum, specifically, a forum for writers. Nowadays, there so many forums you can start scouring for job leads. Locally there’s pinoyexchange.com, pinoywriters yahoo!group, pinoymoneytalk forum, and SEO Philippines.

- Referrals

Word-of-mouth referral is still one of the most effective ways of getting new clients. You can get referrals straight from your existing or old clients to some freelancers who get more than a handful of projects. Family, friends and mentors count, too.

- Job boards

Job boards for me are those adjunct pages that niche blogs have to cater to the career needs of their visitors. Examples of job boards that I love the most are Problogger’s and Lifehacker’s.

- Job listing sites

I moved my home office again. This time, in our house in a quiet subdivision, which I’ve been dying to do but can’t because there wasn’t any Internet connection service provider for that location before. But now that our place finally got the attention of Smart Bro and ComClark, I’m now officially a home-based worker since I now work at our home.

It’s been just about two weeks since I relocated my home office and it’s also been two weeks since I started sleeping at 5 a.m.! The thing is my room is where my home office is. So when I just have to finish something, I can’t just leave to do it some other time, my body keep on bossing me around to check my emails, write blog posts, check articles, etc. And time flies by so fast that I become completely unaware of it until the sun shines.

RSS or really simple syndication in layman’s terms is an online process that makes it easy for people to get updated with their favorite websites.

People subscribe to RSS feeds of websites through clicking the RSS link which is now more commonly found in the form of a chicklet, an orange chicklet like the image on the left.

To start using RSS, you have to have an RSS reader such as Bloglines or Google Reader. I’m using Bloglines since it’s my RSS reader of choice. Signing up for a Bloglines account won’t take you more than a few minutes.
