Home Office Design Project
New year. New home office. Finally!
What’s a home business without a home office? If it isn’t a bedroom office, it’s a computer-in-the-living-room-or-dining-room office. Very uncool and unconducive for productivity, right?
I’ve been living/working at home near my family’s business place for the longest time now and although I’ve already grown to love it, it’s the most inconvenient workplace ever. So, finally after a few months of waiting, I will be moving to a more decent home office courtesy of my favorite Aunt. It’s one of her retirement projects to get me a better home office, I mean a real home office. It’s once planned as just a simple renovation of our ancestral home but it has turned into a total renovation of the whole house.
The house was turned into a cozy abode with a touch of modern interiors and some Mexican Country style. And that means I have to make the home office complement the style of the house. So, I’m going to stuff it with some items that will make people think of Mexico, which excites moi a great deal.Â
The Mexican… Home Office
So, what will make a place conjure a Mexican Country ambience? I’ve discovered that pots, curtains, distressed tables with wrought iron legs, paintings and tiles will do the trick. The office already has granite tiles with a warm color. So, tiles — check!
Splurge JustificationÂ
This weekend I’ll be going to the mall to look for other office items. I’d like an all in one HP printer but my budget can’t afford it just yet. So, I guess I’ll have to check other stuff and forego the more expensive items in the meantime.
Home office must-haves
There are some stuff that you can’t live without in your home office. And there are a lot more stuff that you CAN DEFINITELY LIVE WITHOUT. Here is my list that I can live without but I’d like to acquire this year.
- HP1610
- a home office chair that doesn’t scream executive
- filing cabinet for all the receipts and documents
- a big whiteboard for the reminders, deadlines, errands, and instructions for my employees (me, myself and moi)
- an old bookshelf
- a new laptop
Ever Heard of a Home Office Name?
I’m also looking at these office designs dubbed as seriously coolest workplaces for more fun home office inspiration. Will post pictures of my home office, which I will call Apple Door HQ, once I get started on pimping it.

[...] Bit by bit I’m making Apple Door HQ a sweet reality. I was able to get the AC unit installed and the drawerless office table bought already. Now I’m looking for an aquarium to make this SOHO show more the character of its owner – the Aquarian moi! Oh and I’m *wishing* to receive some modern paintings as birthday gifts, too. Hehe. [...]
