Work from Home in the Philippines Part 1
Who wouldn’t mind working in his pyjamas? Who would trade his 9 to 5 with the opportunity to earn without having to not see your kids anytime you want to? I see a lot of raised hands.
The other perks of having the option to telecommute is being able to work anytime you think you’d be at your most productive. Though this is not always the case as there are companies who allow their employees to work at home and that check on them every now and then. Companies in the Philippines don’t seem to be ready to graze this pasture, yet. But if you find one, I will appreciate it if you will tell me a thing or two about it. Email me at alfamercado(at)gmail(.)com.
In the Philippines, more and more are getting hooked with working from home, particularly moms. This is because it does not only make them more involved with their households but it also allows a Pinoy avoid the polluted streets and the traffic that brings one’s blood to a boil. Usually, they are homebased businesses that allow one to make use of his or her manual skills, e.g., crafts.
How about those jobs that can be done by the manually-challenged but keyboard-obsessed beings?
That’s what the online jobs are for. There’s a lot of telecommute jobs available for Filipinos. However, there are also a lot of telecommute jobs that are far from being truthfully income-generating at all. Beware of these work from home scams. They often take the forms of the following job titles:
- Data Entry Clerks
- Email Processing Clerk
- Home-Based Typists
- Work at Home Craft Workers
- Medical Billing Jobs
How do you know that they are just some work from home opportunity scams? They ask you to pay for a kit (brochures, that you can use to build your business. Or they ask for an admission fee of some sort. Another tell-tale that a homebased opportunity is just leading you on is the plethora of too good to be true promises, you know, those “be a millionaire overnight schemes.”
Learn more about the company that offers any home based work opportunity. If it asks you to swipe your credit card, chances are it’s a scam.
I found my online job through joining forums and e-groups. I have one that is ongoing and I also do some freelance work for a company that I used to work 9 to 5 for. Of course, it pays to be Internet savvy if you will be searching for telecommute jobs. Am I? I can Google, know my way around with FTP’s, and I can post on forums. Those are the requirements of my job. And a bit of common sense, of course. ![]()
This post has become another novel. Before it turns into an epic, I have to say that there is a whole lot of other interesting things to blog about working at home in the Philippines. Stay blogtuned for the actual jobs and that are made for the Filipino telecommute job hunters. I will be also blogging about those who were able to make it in this field.

Hi Alfa,
I am have been working for 10 years but right now I am at the verge of resigning in order to give time for my 6 year old kid. I am wondering if the home based jobs you have mentioned can work for mom’s like us who are in the philippines. I saw the iNet data entry link in this site, it requires me to pay$49.99, is this one of the scams that you are referring to? I would like to seek help from you, if you know of any successful or trusted home based jobs which I can have. Thanks and God Bless you always!

If it requires you to pay, most probably it’s a scam. If you like doing data entry at home, email transcriber@skillze.com for a transcription job.

hi! good morning! I got a chance to view your spot by chance thru a serch engine, and this is what I am really looking for!
You know how it is hard living through paycheck to paycheck?! And I agree with you when you said NO to BUNDY CLOCKS!
I want to look for another means of earning income without loosing my current job! I’m working with the Operations group with my present job and in shifting schedule, I think I will have enough time for this line of job.
Will you be kind enough to give me an overview on how this works? Oh please?! I have almost fallen to those scam you just mentioned but its a good thing I trusted my instinct, ( aside from the truth that i don’t really have the money to pay for their sacam!)
Sir / Ma’am, I am really interested in doing these buisness, Hope to hear from you soon! You just don’t how great your help will be to me and my family!
